Pet Arabia, one of Bahrain’s leading pet stores, is promoting its new range of healthy foods that will ensure the kingdom’s dogs and cats will be fighting fit in 2015.

The chain, which has branches in Budaiya, Amwaj Islands and Sanad, is enticing pet owners with a range of Taste of the Wild and Earthborn products, which place meat as their primary ingredient as opposed to grain and supplements.

Abdulrahman Salah Al Khan, managing director of Pet Arabia, said: “Having our foods grain-free is important. Dogs and cats are carnivores and have hunted for meat since the species existed and their digestive system has evolved to sustain a meat diet, not grain.

“However, a worrying trend has emerged in the market where pet food companies mix grains like wheat and corn into the food as it’s cheaper than meat. Many people obviously are drawn to these products, but they don’t know that in the long run it’s harmful to the animals and it affects not only their digestive system but causes external deficiencies like poor skin and hair loss.

“Pet Arabia stocks brands that have meat as the primary ingredient and includes a wide variety of nutrients and amino acids that will keep pets healthy. Not only that, but they are stored in temperature-controlled environments to ensure maximum freshness. Our food is solely sourced from the factory itself or authorised distributors, not middlemen to get a cheaper price.”

Taste of the Wild and Earthborn products contain a variety of different and exotic meats, such as wild boar, bison and venison, all of which feline and canine species would hunt naturally in the wild.
