THE kingdom’s fitness fanatics are being invited to put their strength and endurance to the test by completing a number of gruelling floor exercises for cash prizes at the Elite Seef Residence & Hotel.

On February 6, gym-goers are being asked to take up the Kinetix Health Club challenge of performing as many push-ups, planks and crunches in a day.

The popular health facility has already unleashed the initiative on its 200-plus members and is keen to see how the general public will rise to the occasion.

Rajneesh Nair, the health club manager who has been working in the field of physical education for more than 16 years, believes The Kinetix Fitness Challenge is the first of its kind in Bahrain. “This challenge will allow you to check your fitness levels by completing three tasks,” he explained.

“Some of our members have already tried it and one member managed 200 crunches and another achieved 40 push-ups. I can’t wait to see what people will actually do during the main event. The most crunches, planks and push-ups will win.

“We simply want to raise awareness about getting fit through this competition.”

Trainers will be available to assist and guide participants. The fitness initiative, which is open to athletes aged 15 and above, will start at 3pm and will be hosted by International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness champion, Sami Al Haddad.

It costs BD10 for non-members to enter and winners of each category will walk away with BD200.

The health club, which features top of the line equipment from Technogym, is located on the sixth floor of the 171-room property, overlooking a large swimming pool, kid’s club, grill area and restaurant. The Kinetix Health Club’s monthly gym membership is BD50 and one-hour sessions with a personal trainer cost BD10. The health club is also featuring a one-day promotion on February 14 for couples wishing to get fit together, 50 per cent off on an annual membership for two priced down from BD550 to BD275.
