Gulf Weekly Race Fever kicks off Bahrain GP awareness

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) kicked off its Race Fever promotional campaign on Friday with a five-car parade across the island featuring Jaguar cars emblazoned in Bahrain Grand Prix livery.

Race Fever is helping raise awareness and excitement as the kingdom continues to count down to its biggest sporting and social event of the year: the 2015 Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.

It was the first of four main events being staged over a three-week span. Race Fever also includes a freestyle motocross stunt show, a raffle to win a new car, alongside a pair of concerts featuring internationally-renowned artists.

All those with tickets to this year’s Bahrain Grand Prix will be able to attend Race Fever events. Each ticket is also automatically entered into the raffle.

On Friday, the parade began at Al Basta Market at Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC) in Sakhir and ended at The Lagoon in Amwaj Islands, taking in City Centre Bahrain and the Motorox Café in Adliya. At each of the locations, the travelling party interacted with members of the public and gave away flyers and souvenirs related to the big race.

Driving the cars were some well-known figures from Bahrain and across the Gulf such as comedian Badr Saleh from Saudi Arabia, Bahraini TV personalities Ameera Al Kooheji and Maryam Bukamal, and popular radio DJ and comedian Imran Al Aradi.

Scheduled tomorrow and Friday will be a freestyle motocross stunt show featuring the Red Bull X-Fighters Jams at Amwaj Islands.

Race Fever will then make a grand finale on April 11, taking place at BIC. That evening, the raffle draw will be held for the chance to win a 2015 Jaguar F-Type Coupe. Also on the same night, fans will be able to enjoy back-to-back live performances from British pop sensations The Vamps and Swedish DJ Otto Knows.

Fans who bought their tickets during the Early Bird Promotion period will have twice the chance to win in the raffle, per ticket. Those who bought their passes after the Early Bird and before April 11 have just one chance, per ticket.

The Bahrain Grand Prix weekend is scheduled to take place April 17-18-19 in Sakhir as the fourth round of the 2015 FIA Formula One World Championship.
