As the competition season draws to a close at Awali Golf Club, an event was held last Saturday to show the club’s appreciation for its sponsors - the Sponsors’ Trophy competition.
In teams of four, scoring being Team Stableford with the best three scores counting, 16 teams with players of a mixed ability took on the 18-hole course.
Indeed, one team not used to the conditions only managed to navigate three holes, and headed for the clubhouse.
Middle East Union came out winners with 122 points, team members being Abdulrahman Amin, Mohammed Salmeen, Abdulla Sultan Faraj and Salem Khalifa. In runner-up position adrift by two points were Bapco A (Abdul Elah Fakhro, Dave Hurlock, Petri Kettunen and Essa Al Qutami), with Studio RCT (Roberta Trzebinski, Christian Trzebinski, Ali Musbah and Farooq Ahmed) losing on countback.
Club Captain Fakhroo highlighted the gratitude that the club owes to its sponsors. He also thanked tournament director Paul Beaumont and assistant for the day’s organisation, Anil Nair. All those gathered were treated to raffle prizes donated by Citibank, represented at the prize presentation by Hanan Al Shakar and Harpreet Arora.
