American automotive artist Dennis Hoyt hopes to return to the kingdom for every Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix with new sculptures to delight motoring fanatics.

The 68-year-old car enthusiast, who staged his first solo exhibition titled Art of Speed during the race weekend at the Bahrain International Circuit, was elated by the thousands of inquisitive visitors.

He aims to share his creativity with others across the island if welcomed back next year. Dennis said: “I love Bahrain. The people are incredible. I have never been to a place where there are so many cultures and nationalities with everyone getting along.

“I’m so overwhelmed by the positive feedback and kindness that I told Bahrain International Circuit CEO Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa and others that I want to make this the premier spot for my new works every year.”

He also hopes to hold lectures for students in advance of the race weekend, help local charitable causes and work with the disabled.

His race-inspired works of art, included a tribute piece to late Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna who won three Formula One world championships and was killed in an accident while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

The stunning ‘Senna’, valued at around BD15,000, took months to complete. He said: “It has an abstract impressionistic feel to it. He was a hero of mine.”

Dennis has already started working on a second piece to honour the F1 legend called ‘Serving Notice’ when he raced in Monaco and out-lapped everyone whilst behind the wheel of a car considered less powerful than those driven by his rivals.
