Soulful swooner Jay Sean stepped on stage last Thursday evening and revved up the crowd at the venue’s F1 opening party.

He arrived on stage at roughly half-past midnight to sweep the crowd off their feet.

Showing up wearing a bright, metallic jacket, golden high-tops, black-as-night specs and a bodyguard with slightly spiked hair; the audience’s screams of delight were heightened by his dashing good looks and seductive grin.

However, I poorly positioned myself right behind the bodyguard and had a great view of his spiky hair and his arm, which pushed me back every time I got a little too close. It was not a cute situation.

But my disdain about my unfortunate choice of placement faded as the star slowly slipped his shades off and started serenading us.

If there’s one thing Jay Sean was particularly good at, it was his ability to gracefully dance around stage while taking selfies with fans.

Smooth like butter, he glided across the stage like an Olympic ice skater, with silky spins and hot-to-trot moves, all while posing for clicks with his fans. It was quite impressive, really. Less able performers would surely have fallen into the crowd and cracked their skulls attempting it.

At one point, he stood on the edge of a stage while a girl wrapped her arms around his legs and held on like she was about to fall out of an aeroplane without a parachute. I’m sure this isn’t the first time this has happened, and if I weren’t stuck behind Mr Bodyguard, I might have had a shot at it as well.

He left the stage after a 30-minute session and returned to join the crowd shortly afterwards for more photo opportunities, which ended a short and sultry performance with a big bang for many.
