A spectacular farewell to end this season for the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) was hosted last weekend with both dressage and show jumping for the equine community.

It started with dressage on Friday and witnessed a fantastic double win for Mariella Forward, who rode two exquisite and impressive dressage tests astride the hoof-perfect No Trix.

The pair won both the preliminary and the novice junior dressage and it proved to be a wonderful ending to the rider’s season as this summer she is off to the UK to study and will also be having a major operation that will put her out of any equestrian action for the next two years.

Another sterling performance came from Mustafa Dadulla, one of the youngest riders in only his second event, on Dilmun Cortez. Mustafa claimed a fourth position in the preliminary dressage and later sixth in the junior one show jumping class. I predict a future champion in the making.

The weekend saw many horse and rider combinations achieving multiple successes. Hussain Dadulla, riding Dilmun Arko, was runner-up in the preliminary dressage, and third in the junior one jumping.

Gabriella Scopes on holiday from her UK studies took Dilmun Porphyry through his paces, third in the preliminary and runner-up in the novice dressage.

Schoolgirl Aimee Keen had numerous placings on her horses, third in both the novice dressage and junior two jumping.

Ahmed Essa had a great day with Bart, the pair third in junior one and runner-up in junior two jumping. Winning the first show jumping class of the day was Mayoof Al Rumaihi with the stunning Granus.

For the adults there were more double delights with Ali Essa taking the adult one class with Athletico and coming fourth on Lavino in the second class, plus Basel Al Dossari riding Loretto to clinch third spot in adult one and the runner-up place in adult two, which was won by Ahmed Akbar and F16.

Saturday adventures continued in similar style. The adult preliminary dressage was taken by Yasser Al Murkhi after a lovely performance by Amera, the pair third in the novice. Meghan Black won the novice dressage with Dilmun Boeing, after being placed fourth in the preliminary on Dilmun Cinzano.

Kat Rushton was runner-up in the preliminary and placed in the novice. The show jumping was mixed first up with an accumulator and won by Yahya Ahmed aboard Horse Pride I Trust You, runner-up was Sadiq Abbas with Well Kept Secrets and Salman Faraj claimed third on My Precious.

Ali Essa was once again on top winning form to claim first with Lavino in the second jumping class, and was runner-up with F16, Sami Ghazwan was third and fifth in the final class.

Basel Al Dossari was back on the podium with Dilmun Dory. They won the final coveted 6 Bar class - the only one clear after the four rounds, pipping Ali Essa at the post with F16. Third place went to Ahmed Mansoor and Edward Du Sud.

A fantastic final to what has been an exciting and extremely enjoyable season, a huge thank you to all involved.
