TWIN Palms Riding Centre (TPRC) geared itself up in style for last weekend’s mammoth event bonanza.
First on the agenda was the infamous (in-house) Twixstead, a combination of Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country, with two levels of entry.

On Thursday the dressage and show jumping events were held. The winners were determined by a points system with the champions being crowned with the least amount of points.

For the show jumping it was imperative to obtain a clear round due to the risk of facing penalty points. These were added for disobedience, refusals, knock downs and eliminations.

Inherently, with Twixstead, the winners of the dressage maintain their placings unless, of course, there was a catastrophe in the show jumping or cross country (always possible – unpredictable animals!).

In strong leads after the first day was Imogen Nell and Mojito in Class A and Aimee Keen with DJ Fleur for Class B.
At the cross country on Friday, Class A got a choice of obstacles, some higher some lower, with some way less scary than others.

Riders got to choose … but for Class B there were no choices plus a few new surprises to encounter, such as a complete halt after the first four fences, not easy when your horse is primed and in full throttle!

Penalties were awarded for failing to hit the optimum time, elimination and missing a fence and, of course, refusals added time!

Fabulously, Imogen and Aimee maintained their previous day’s top form and kept their poll positions to emerge triumphant.

The event held over two days was as usual immensely popular and a huge amount of fun, so till next season farewell to Twixstead, you will be missed.

Thanks have to be extended to all the helpers - without them these events could not take place - and the judges, ground crew, sponsors and organisers, as well as competitors and their support teams.

Twixstead was followed on Saturday by an open show jumping event. There were four classes held and these were split and run simultaneously in two jumping arenas to enable the event to start later in the day and still finish before darkness fell.

This system worked very well, although as in all all pilots, there were a few finite tweaks to be made but the whole afternoon was a huge success.

All classes were mixed and winning Class 1 and 2 was that dynamic teenager Aimee Keen riding Nemo. Class 3 was won by Basel Al Dossari astride Dilmun Cortez and Abbas Yousif aboard Argentini clinched the podium position in the final class.

Sunday brought another in-house show for TPRC, aimed at some of the riders that had not been able to compete at Twixstead. There were three classes, a clear round which saw a host of entries, clear rounds and lots of fun, followed by a one round with jump off class which was won by Keshia Smith with her new horse Gardian. The final class, a two phase, was won by Jamiela Haseid riding the lovely Nafa.
