Sleepwalkers rejoice as this autumn/winter 2015 pyjama-suit trend can have you walking outside with your night-clothes with no shame. The lines have been crossed and you can now consider a satin-printed two-piece as your lounge-wear, literally.

These sartorial sleep-sets were showcased by all the big name designers during recent fashion events which has given a whole new meaning to the ‘pyjama party’.

Marc Jacobs first featured the theme followed by Max Mara, Missoni and Dolce and Gabbana. Retro prints and classic button-down shirts with contrasted piping can now be worn to cocktail parties and sophisticated gatherings due to the luxe fabrics and tailored silhouettes.

In my opinion, Franscesca Ruffini’s ready-to-wear collection, F.R.S (for restless sleepers) set the tone in Milan for ‘pyjamas-in-public’ with watercolour rose prints, jacquard and righteous retro prints.

He used cloque lame in champagne and bronze, organza taffeta with classic piping and various other fine fabrics. The models that catwalked Ruffini’s atelier aesthetics in Milan wore eye-masks as headbands which looked uber-chic and completely copy worthy.

Therefore, if you want to saunter into a soiree or the next formal dinner with something other than the over-done slip dress (but they are still a staple!) then pick up a boudoir basic available at any haute fashion house.

How to wear: Spend a little more money to get a proper pyjama-suit in a lavish fabric like satin or silk and dress it up with heels or sequined flats. Accessorise the ensemble and add an eye mask in a matching fabric as a headband if you want the authentic F.R.S. night-owl look.
