International luxury brand, Amouage, has extended its product portfolio with the launch of a new collection of silk printed scarves in City Centre Bahrain.

Complementing its development of lifestyle products and following the successful launch of leather goods collections, the scarves have been designed in-house by creative director Christopher Chong and crafted by an Italian silk manufacturer and printer in Como.

David Crickmore, CEO of Amouage, said: “We have been working on the collection for over a year and to see it come to fruition is really exciting.

“We also intend to develop woven scarves and we have very high hopes that this launch will be the beginning of an entirely new category of business for us that we can extend further in the future.”

The first Amouage silk scarf collection are offered in two shapes – the traditional silk square 90cm x 90cm and a 170cm x 60cm shape that can also be worn as a stole. Printed on a silk twill fabric, each scarf features a bespoke play on the brand’s logo. A special printing process ensures that both sides of the scarf, front and back have almost the same colour definition.

Each scarf is hand cut to ensure the pattern is completely straight and symmetrical and seam-stresses use silk thread to roll and hand stitch the hem around each scarf.

“This is painstaking, highly-skilled artistry and adds to the bespoke nature of each individual scarf. Even the labels are sewn on by hand and so this is an entirely hand-made product,” added Mr Crickmore.
