Former GulfWeekly agony aunt and one of Bahrain’s most prominent counsellors and coaches, is leaving the kingdom to conquer America … and likely help people recover from any Donald Trump anxieties they may be suffering.

Kelly Armatage is moving to New York City next month to launch her motivational speaking sessions. This coincides with the new president taking office after a flurry of controversial Twitter comments blasting rival politicians and many celebrity opponents following a divisive election.

The sought-after speaker has staged more than 10,000 one-on-one sessions in Bahrain since starting operations in 2007 and has been the CEO of her own therapy and coaching company based in Mahooz.

Now, she is taking her ground-breaking therapy technique A.S.K. (A Serenity Kit) Stateside, where she is confident it will continue to provide a helpful aid when the going gets tough.

Londoner Kelly said: “I’m delighted that A.S.K. has been so successful, and the US is the perfect platform to launch it to many more people. I feel honoured to have been awarded
the O-Visa to work as a motivational speaker in America.

“I have loved working in Bahrain and feel grateful to know that I have helped thousands in this region. However, it is time for a new chapter, which I gratefully embrace.” Kelly, originally moved to the kingdom after being headhunted by a motoring company for a managerial position and left a lucrative salary behind to put her counselling and motivational qualifications and skills to the test with just two clients on her books.

Since then she has facilitated scores of seminars and workshops in Bahrain and helped individuals tackle a variety of work-related and personal issues, including drug addiction and those suffering from bullying or eating disorders, as well as their families.

Only last month she attended St Christopher’s School and advised senior pupils on how to cope with examination stress and achieve their best. Her last workshop in the kingdom will take place on Saturday from 10am-1pm at the Domain Hotel under the name ‘New Year, New Goals, New You’.

The A.S.K. project took Kelly 15 months to perfect, and is a tool designed to help people cope with emotional trauma, as well as assist those seeking to kick addictions.

Kelly explained: “The kit is a technique designed to change negative thoughts, emotions and behaviours in all aspects of life. It is a subconscious rewiring technique that allows people to work on their own in order to deal with, or solve, any issue they may have. Basically … it’s a therapist in a kit!”

The kit, highlighted previously in GulfWeekly, was condensed from 25 healing steps into three quick and easy methods. It contains a video tutorial, a book, an audiobook and worksheets along with fridge magnet aids.

Kelly’s departure, while a sad occasion for many who have benefitted from her skills, is not the end of her work in Bahrain as she will still be offering one-on-one sessions over video-calling platform Skype.

One reviewer said: “I usually have face-to-face sessions with Kelly but tried an online one. And, wow, it is just as powerful as the in-person Kelly. Thank you!”
