Bahrain’s favourite rockers Hot Laser has gone all soppy with the release of a romantic slow number as the act’s latest studio single release.

The band members are better known for a style rooted in blues-based hard rock, incorporating elements of heavy metal, punk and garage rock … but new song Valentine aims to pluck the heart strings of fans.

Lead vocalist and keyboard player Rob ‘Jungle’ Jennings said: “It is a classic love ballad and as with most rock ballads, it was a pleasure to introduce piano and violins into the mix.

‘The great tragedy of the song is that I can’t remember clearly composing it. We have been working on it for a year in the studio. I know it must have been early in the morning, and I sense it is an almost ‘dying swan’ song. But yes, there is a special person in mind who I think subconsciously the song is about, or maybe it is for a person I am yet to meet, but all people have a secret Valentine I suppose!”

Hot Laser was formed in the summer of 2013 and the act is rapidly gaining a strong reputation and growing fan base due to the originality of the compositions and thrilling live shows.

The band is currently made up of Jennings, bass player Joe Dalton and Daryl Bustos on guitar. Although Valentine was composed primarily by Robert it came with assistance from Joe, Daryl, Hani Taqi, Ehab Faraj and Prasad Jayaruwan. Hot Laser is currently searching and auditioning for a new member before going on the road again.

“Since our last show opening for Point of View, who themselves opened recently for Guns N’ Roses in Dubai, Hot Laser has taken a brief rest from live shows as we are looking for a new drummer,” explained Rob. “However, we are still working hard in the studio and on the planning of our first music video.”

The act’s first single attracted 1,000 hits on YouTube within a few days of being released and the song is receiving regular radio airtime.

Narcissism, produced by Hani Taqi at Studio 77, explored the insatiable craving for admiration amongst today’s youth, described as a ‘serious disease turning into an epidemic’.

Hot Laser then made a timely start to last year with the release of Tick Tock to the delight of their army of devoted fans.

Valentine will be released at the end of this month on iTunes for £0.79 (approx 365 fils). Fans are invited to like Hot Laser’s Facebook page to keep informed of future shows.
