Temperatures are rising as steeply as the rate of an expat’s electricity and water charges!

Along with the hot weather has come an increase in bad driving, possibly coinciding with the announcement by parliament to suspend traffic fines until the end of the year for offences caught on camera, although jumping a red light will still be a fineable offence.

Practically overnight, I noticed the change as a crazy speedster flashed his lights incessantly at me whilst tailgating, how I was tempted to slam on my brakes – but I quite like my car and my life!

This madman obviously didn’t realise that the final decision on the freeze is in the hands of the government – shame!

Whilst I’m in rant mode, when, oh when, will someone put up a pedestrian crossing somewhere on Saar Avenue?

I will actually jump into my car rather than attempt to cross Saar Avenue on foot! The speed and the volume of traffic along with the dangerous driving, of course, make it almost impossible to cross from one side to the other.

What makes it even more infuriating is the fact that there are actually pretty decent pavements and paths but you need to stick to one side if you value your life.

Also, I am perplexed as to why I will receive at least one blast of the horn along with some remarks shouted at myself from an open car window filled with local youths or quite often from a white truck. Come on, I’m a middle-aged woman walking my dog, messy hair, make-up free and wearing old dog walking clothes and trainers!

I just can’t be bothered with it any longer – must be the heat getting to me.
