There was plenty of action to enjoy in a thrilling second round of the 2017/2018 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship, held over the weekend at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.
More than 180 participants from the region took to BIC’s quarter-mile drag strip to compete in one of the 16 categories for cars and motorbikes.
In the Street 4 and 6 class, Mohammed Al Jalahma clinched first place with a run of 9.801 seconds, beating the 9.909s of runner-up Hani Hashim.
Bader Dashti followed suit in the Outlaw FWD category. His final pass of 9.115s was enough to claim the victory against Ali Mahfoodh.
In the Super Street 6-Cylinder class, Nawaf Al Manai won in 7.158s, while Hamed Al Merbati was second in 7.488s.
The Outlaw 6-Cylinder category was claimed by Jassim Zaman who had a best time of 7.502s. Mohamed Haji placed second.
In the Street V8, Mohammed Suliman won in 7.394s, beating Jalil Abdulhussain’s 8.010s.
Turki Khalid triumphed in the Super Street V8 category with a final pass of 4.762s. Mohammed Qasem finished as the runner-up.
In the Competition 4.5 category, Mohammed Bu Sylom beat Hisham Al Mulla for first place, as did Nabeel Al Esa in the Outlaw 10.5 category, where Mohamed Awadh was second.
In the Pro Mod class, Turki Al Humaidy was victorious with a run of 4.031s in the final against Hani Hussain, who had a time of 5.656s.
In the Index 10.5 category, Abdulaziz Al Qattan beat Suliman Dawood, Hussain Al Sheikh did the same against Yousif Abdulla in the Index 9.5, and Sayed Al Hadad won over Abdulla Al Ogab in the Index 8.5 class.
Amongst the motorbikes classes, Jehad Al Jamal won in the Street Fight Bikes with a final pass of 9.645s, finishing ahead of Mohamed Al Taitoon’s 9.903s.
Bader Bin Eidan clinched first place in the Street Bikes category with a winning run of 9.808s. He beat Meshari Almarri.
Mishari Alturki then claimed the win in the Super Street Bikes category. His final time was 4.406s, beating the 4.465s of rival Bader Bin Eidan.
In the Pro Bikes class, Yaqoub Al Ali 6.614s helped him defeat Meshal Alsaber.
Round Three takes place this week.
