Motoring enthusiasts revved their engines and showed off their customised mighty machines at The Car & Motorbike show staged at the Lost Paradise of Dilmun Waterpark.

More than 3,500 people attended the event to check out an array of vehicles on display as well as to mark the launch of the park’s 11th season and dance in delight at the Holi Colour Festival.

While people threw coloured powder at each other within the waterpark grounds, award-winning classical, vintage and customised machines from around the region were parked outside for people to admire and enjoy.

This is the fifth year that website Bahrain Motors has collaborated with the waterpark to stage the show. Komail Abudrees, head of its organising committee, said: “This is a popular event for all those who love cars and motorbikes. There were 300 exhibitors with a mixture of cruising bikes, sport and dirt bikes and different types of cars.

“This event offers a place for people to enjoy motorsport and share their talents and hobbies.

“We are all about raising awareness about safety in motorsport.

“People had a great time and we aim to continue to grow bigger and better and stage more events in the future for the motoring community.”

Some classic and vintage cars were also on display within the waterpark grounds. Military man Abdulla Abdulrahman’s award-winning 2012 Honda Accord caught the attention of many for the kitted out features which he has worked on himself.

Abdulla, 22, from Hamad Town, said: “It was a great and well-oragnised show. The display was amazing and it was good to be able to talk to others about their cars too. It gave different motoring groups a chance to show all their prized and cherished models.”
