Gulf Weekly Age no barrier to glory

The second event of AGC’s African & Eastern fortnight took place last Friday, with an 18-holes singles Stableford format.

Schoolboy Lee McIlear, 12, was the winner with 41 points. To allow Lee to appear in the traditional winner’s photograph alongside the officials, a step-ladder was needed - thus it was a case of the winner literally stepping-up to the podium.

McIlear, who received his handicap at the age of nine, took home a golf club as his prize as well as a revised handicap of 24.

Full results: 1st: Lee McIlear (41 points), 2nd: Ahmed Al Noaimi (40), 3rd: Essa Al Qutami (40), 4th: Roberta Trzebinski (40), 5th: Phil Sadler (38), 6th: Nawaf Al Noaimi (38), Rashid Al Qutami losing on countback. Gents nearest the pin: Nawaf Al Noaimi.

Next Friday see the return of the Studio RCT Golf Challenge, another Stableford competition. For details visit
