Al Salam Bank’s 13th batch of summer interns underwent a specialised FinTech workshop at the Capital Club.
The three hour session, which is part of the FinTech Series, featured four speakers from various organisations highlighting particular elements within the Bahrain FinTech Landscape. Speakers included Tareq Noor, senior executive of financial services at the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), Shanthini Raja, CEO of Rsquare, Dylan Miles, chief architect at Innervate Technology Solutions and Ameera Mohammed, senior analyst at Bahrain FinTech Bay.
The workshop included 26 young Bahraini university students and Al Salam’s management team from the Human Resources department.
The workshop had two general awareness sessions one of which highlighted the role of the EDB and their initiatives for the FinTech ecosystem in Bahrain presented by Tareq. The second featured an introduction to the FinTech Talent Programme (FTP), which is a one-of-a-kind programme for Bahraini university students, developed in coordination with Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. The participants of the programme will get the opportunity to develop their professional skills and gain insightful experience in the latest FinTech trends and technologies on a global scale.
The second half of the workshop included presentations from two FinTech corporates that shared insights based on experience in the region. Dylan spoke about the trends and challenges in a constantly shifting digital landscape. Shanthini presented an engaging educational session on the types of Artificial Intelligence, on Machine Learning and on the future of Robotic Process Automation.
The Fintech Series will continue to host corporates and startups from Bahrain’s Fintech space, and MENA. The aim of this initiative is to support the digital ecosystem growth in Bahrain and provide an engaging platform for Fintech industry leaders to share their insights. In addition, the series will continue to host customised workshops.
