Art plays a big part in a person’s home. It is a way for people to express themselves whilst also adding pops of colours onto bare walls. It can either create a glamorous vibe or a cosy ambience depending on framing, shades and textures used.

Renowned American furniture brand, Ethan Allen, which operates throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, decided to add charity to the artistic mix. The international home fashion brand that is under the license of Alabbar Enterprises in the UAE, collaborated with Dubai based art studio Mawaheb from Beautiful People to create an exclusive painting. This art will not only jazz up a space but also 100 per cent of the proceeds from the painting will be donated to the studio to support its causes.

Mawaheb, which means ‘talent’ in Arabic, is an art studio for the determined ones, aged 16 and above. The studio is located in the culturally rich Al Fahidi historical neighbourhood and it provides an opportunity to develop life skills through art, while demonstrating that everyone can be creative in their own unique way.

The idea of the collaboration was conceived by Ethan Allen to give back to the community and feature the artwork from the studio’s inspiring artists in Ethan Allen flagship showroom located on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai.

The creative process for the collaboration painting began with an inspired colour palette from the Relaxed Modern collection created by the brand. It embodies passion for elegance, comfort and tranquility. The collection comes in light serene shades of blue and soft sand palettes, creating a look that’s refreshing and relaxed. The whimsical and colourful design was created by more than 20 talented artists from Mawaheb Mawaheb over a span of a few weeks.

Tyrone Reid, CEO of Alabbar Enterprises, said: “We are very proud of the collaboration with Mawaheb and to give back to the community by encouraging each individual to reach their highest potential and aid in their development.

“This initiative clicked very naturally for us and our values as we strive to explore ways of supporting like-minded individuals who are passionate about the community. As a part of the Alabbar family, we are honoured to have taken part in a caring cause like Mawaheb, where the entire journey for me and the team was a dearly heart-touching endeavour.”

The artwork is available for purchase for AED 8,400 (BD860) until the end of December along with several other artworks created by the students. To commemorate the collaboration, The American furniture brand also hosted a memorable press breakfast in the store where members of the media and influencers were invited to spend a morning meeting and painting with the artists as well as being part of the collaboration and experience with Mawaheb first-hand.
