The event, which teed off at 7.30am on Thursday, with the second flight teed off by US Ambassador to Bahrain Justin Hicks Siberell at noon was played in the Florida format and included several side contests adding to the fun and excitement of the event.

Speaking at the end of the tournament AMH Chief Medical Officer/ Corporate CEO, Dr. George Cheriyan said: “Firstly, we thank our kind patron HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa without whose support and generosity this event could not be held. We also thank the Royal Court and the sponsors whose kind support ensures that year after year the golf tournament continues to be an astounding success.

The event, in its 22nd year running, attracted 46 teams and over 180 golfers. GulfWeekly was a media and hole sponsor at the tournament which raised funds for AMH’s community outreach programmes including their diabetes, elderly care, autistic care and cancer awareness campaigns as well as free medical checkups for labour camps conducted regularly by the hospital.

The elite charity event raised BD26,500 in cash and BD39,000 in kind, all exclusively for the hospital’s community outreach fund. The event ended with the Annual Gala dinner at The Diplomat RadissonBlu Hotel & Spa to honour the organisations for their kind support.

Julia Tovey, COO of American Mission Hospital on the occasion commented: “I would like to thank everyone who played a role in the enormous success of the event. Our deepest appreciation to sponsors, golfers, His Majesty’s golf course staff and not to forget our precious volunteers who give freely of their time to come down and support the event.”
