Lulu Hypermarket launched its celebrations of India’s Republic Day with Indian Ambassador Alok Kumar Sinha inaugurating the Indian Utsav festival, which continues until Saturday.
Also present were Lulu group director for Bahrain and Egypt, Juzer Rupawala and top management of the hypermarket as well as community dignitaries.
The festival showcases the best of Indian produce and products, including Lulu’s wide range of Indian food and non-food items, fresh vegetables and fruit, with special offers as well as a dedicated section for fresh winter produce from the Indian state of Gujarat.
The inauguration, held at the Dana Mall location of Lulu Hypermarket featured an enthusiastic cultural display of folk and patriotic dances by community members, a children’s fashion catwalk and a Brides of India show by members of Saree Speak, an online fashion group.
MasterChef India winner Ripu Daman Handa conducted a live food demo, showing attendees how to make several Indian dishes including a special apricot chutney, while answering questions from the audience. There was also a desserts contest which attracted many home-chefs.
