  DOUBLE BILL AT PARK
 By MAI AL KHATIB

You've heard of drive-in movies, now the Lost Paradise of Dilmun is introducing 'Dive- In' movie nights with the region's largest outdoor screen on the beach.

Film fans will be able to laze around on a sun bed or float on a tube while enjoying a PG 13 family movie on Fridays and Saturdays or a romantic chick flick for the ladies on Thursday night beginning on September 3.

Paul Blunt, general manager said: "We are very excited about this new project that we are launching as we feel it's something that will really capture people's excitement and get them talking about the Lost Paradise of Dilmun.

"This is our second season and we are seeing a lot of repeat business and guests. Most of the feedback is very positive.

"We wanted something different this year and this hasn't been done before in the region.

"We know that there are a few outdoor showings of movies at various locations in the GCC for example at parks and places like that but to do it in a water park is certainly new.

"The screen is 4.5 metres high and 12 metres long, the equipment we have is second to none and we are currently in negotiations with Warner Bros for the movies."

Visitors can 'dive in' from September 3 until the middle of October, depending on the weather, at no extra charge.

Paul said: "We know that people love going to the cinema in Bahrain with the family.

It's an extra bonus to not only come to the water park but to watch a movie as well and it is all included in the entrance fee.

"You can come in and watch a movie with popcorn and other snacks while you wade in the water or relax on the beach.

"The films will start playing at around 7pm and, since they usually run for about two hours, on those days the park will open from 10am and close at 9pm.

"The times will change obviously during Ramadan.

"This is a long-term thing so early in the season in April or May next year; we will start it up again."

Although the movies will only play during the weekends, it could be an everyday thing if guests play their cards right.

Mr Blunt added: "If it is very popular we will show a movie every evening. At this stage we are just focusing on the weekends but next year, for the summer holidays, we may be showing them every evening as our timings are different.

"We will also feature a different movie each night unlike in the theatre where the same movie runs for a week.

"Also people can choose the movies that they like as one of the many exciting features of 'Dive-In' movie nights."

Bring Adam Back Home

We believe 10-year-old Adam Jones should be returned to his family, and reunited with his school friends at St Christopher's School, Bahrain.
