Bahrain achieved the highest tourism growth in the GCC in the first quarter of this year thanks to the Grand Prix, exhibitions and conferences and the Eid holidays.

According to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), Bahrain has also achieved the second highest growth in the Middle East in the first four months of this year.
Tourist arrivals soared by 30 per cent, way ahead of the nearest GCC rival Dubai, which achieved seven per cent growth, according to the figures released in UNWTO World Tourism Barometer for January through April.
Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tourism Committee head Mohammed Buzizi said that the increase in tourism was not caused by "individual tourists," but was a result of the "increase of the special sector of businesses in Bahrain.
"These include more large conferences and exhibitions along with smaller meetings and training seminars held from January to April in comparison to last year."
