ORGANISERS of the first Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) “Gulf Air International Motor Show” were so thrilled with the show’s success that they are already planning enthusiastically for next year’s event.
A spokesperson said that next year they aim to add more categories and attract even more people to the event. Around 4,000 people were present at the opening of the show last week, exceeding all expectations. Over the course of the show the circuit was transformed into a giant stage featuring a host of the latest, most sophisticated sports cars. Car lovers were able to sample the delights of an array of models from Maserati, Lamborghini, BMW, Caterham, Peugeot and Nissan, amongst others, and were also given the opportunity to test-drive cars on the BIC track. There was also a selection of motorbikes, speedboats, go-karts and motoring memorabilia on display. The first day of the show saw the first-ever participation of the Bahrain Drag Racing Club (BDRC) featuring seven Pro Mods from Bahrain and the GCC. The participation of champions, Ali Aryan and Khaled Mohammed delighted visitors. On day two, Nissan offered the public a unique on-track experience with BIC certified instructors. The day was also marked by the presence of Lamborghini who are among the most frequent guests at the BIC. The president of Al Ghassan Motors in Jeddah, Sheikh Ghassan Al Sulaiman, and national marketing manager, Eyad Tubaileh were present for the launch of the super-car ‘Gallardo’ in the Middle East. Visitors were offered the chance to get behind the wheel and experience the car’s 500-horsepower engine. After three busy days, the show ended with a signature drag show in which the public were able to enjoy a true drag-racing experience with an open-top car piloted by Bahrain’s champion, Ali Aryan.
