Gulf Weekly Krazy Kevin's Kids Klub

Well everybody is now on school holidays (except for the kids from the Philippines School as my neighbour Len-Len keeps telling me!).

And speaking of Len-Len well done for winning a medal at the basketball course you did last week.
But for me last week, it was back to school.  The art teacher from St. Christopher’s Junior School; the lovely Jacqui Clark invited me to come and judge the amazing hats that had been made by Year 6 students.  Talk about weird and wonderful!  The imagination that went into making the hats just astounded me.
I arrived at the school in secret and hid behind the curtains as the kids trooped into the school hall.  Jacqui told all the kids to put their hats on and then said that she was sorry that Krazy Kevin couldn’t make it to judge the competition.
From behind the curtain I heard a big groan, and then as Jacqui started talking again I jumped out and asked “Can I do it please”.
There was a big cheer and I went on to judge over 120 hats.
The winners (which you can see in the photo) were very hard to choose as the calibre of entries was so very high. But I’d like to make quick mention of the ‘toilet one’; which when you opened the lid…Well, I’ll leave the rest  to your imagination!
Afterwards, Jacqui took me to the staff room where I was treated to a feast of Scottish chocolate marshmallows.  Luuverrly!
A couple of days later, I was in the Year 2 class at St Christopher’s Infant School DJ-ing for all the kids at their end-of-term disco.
There were about 130 kids singing, dancing, playing musical bumps and playing four corners.
The noise generated was mind blowing and the teachers even got down and boogied too. Well done to headteacher Ian Fellows and, of course, to the infamous Miss Jelley.  The PTA organisation was great and I’d like to make a special mention to Nancy Hill for all her hard work putting together this event.
At the end of the disco, one of the kids asked me for an autograph and, after signing a further 130, I nearly had to be taken to hospital for a worn-out hand.
I got home eventually, and managed a couple of hours sleep before my big game of golf, arriving at Riffa Golf Club with only minutes to spare and feeling exhausted.
I found out that my golf partner was Doctor Sachdeva. We started off on the first hole and I got a five – the previous two weeks I’d got a 10!
From there we proceeded to play well as a team. So oddly enough, the fact I was tired must have somehow contributed positively to the way I played. Maybe it slowed my swing down or something.
Anyway, we got to the last hole and I played brilliantly to the edge of the water, just needing to ‘chip’ the ball onto the green.  Then guess what – Splash!  My ball went straight into the water!  OK, I thought, I’ll have another go – Splash!  Same thing!  Thank goodness for the Doc. He did well – getting a six on the hole.
After the game we trundled off to the clubhouse for the prize giving, and this time I didn’t give out the prizes ‘cos I was a winner!
In fact we were 2nd, just behind that famous bandit team of Ed Daly and Louise Robertson – the winners for the second week running.
My wife Wendy was happy to see me finally win some prizes.  Once again thanks to Daniel Thain and Ron Peters from Gulf Cellar for this great weekly night golf event.
Until next week
Keep happy
