THE ninth edition of the Middle East International Motor Show, the largest event of its kind in the region, promises to be bigger and better than ever before, and will be held from November 14-18 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Organisers promise this year's edition will be power-packed with a host of presentations and attractions.

Approximately 85,000 motor enthusiasts from the GCC and its neighbouring regions will witness world premiers, latest launches and a dazzling array of cars being seen in the Middle East for the very first time.

Some of the biggest names from the motor world including Aston Martin, BMW, Bentley, Maybach, Porsche, Volkswagen and more will add to the glitz and glamour of the event.

The exhibition will also showcase 10 of the world's fastest production cars, including the Shelby Aero, which recently screamed into the Guinness World Records for being the fastest production car in the world.

This will be the first time ever that the Shelby Aero will be on display at a Motor Show event since breaking the record in October 2007.

"We are delighted with the overwhelming support and interest from the global automotive community. The Dubai Motor Show stands on par with the world's leading motor shows in the international circuit, and we are proud to be hosting some of the best performance cars and premier launches right here in Dubai" said Helal Al Marri, director general of Dubai World Trade Centre, and organiser of the Dubai Motor Show.

Adding a star-studded touch to the show will be the Aston Martin DBS as seen in the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale.

The unique 'Cars of the Stars' walkway will feature a galaxy of exclusive collectors automobiles, including the classic 1978 Rolls Royce that was used by the Queen of England during her last visit to the UAE, currently owned by Shaikh Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan.

The Motor Show audience will also witness the UAE's first Solar Car, a trailblazing invention by Saqr Bin Saif.

The "Porsche Kids Driving School" will be a fun and educational feature in association with the Dubai Police department that will instil an early sense of driving and on-road responsibility in young children.

Kids will get a first-hand feel of the Porsche experience behind the wheel of a 911 Kids Pedal Car!

This little circuit will feature a well-designed road track created with traffic signals set up at strategic points.

Deesch Papke, managing director of Porsche Middle East and Africa, said: "The importance of promoting road safety cannot be overstated. And through the Porsche Kids School, we want to ensure that the next generation gets a head start in road safety by learning important rules such as using a child seat, always wearing a seat belt and how to cross the road safely."

A host of new and radical designs that could be the sign of things to come will be on display, as a cross-section of automotive designers from across the globe unveil the latest 'Concept Car' creations.

Apart from experiencing the best from the world of automobiles, visitors also have a chance to walk away with some high-powered prizes, including the Yamaha Raptor ATV as well as limited tickets to the Dubai Motorsports Festival and lots more through other competitions, contests and challenges.

Opening hours are from 11am to 10pm on the 14, 15, 17 and 18 November and from 3pm to 10pm on Friday 16 November.

The tickets cost AED20 and can be purchased at the venue or online at www.timeouttickets .com
