Mena Telecom has experienced a highly prolific year in 2007. From teaming up with Motorola to launch the MenaWiMAX to enhancing their existing portfolio of products, the company has worked hard in the pursuit of strengthening their position in the island's telecom industry.

Albaraka signs deal
The Albaraka Banking Group (ABG) has signed an agreement with Islamic International Rating Agency (IIRA) to carry out a Shari'a Quality Rating (SQR). ABG is a Bahraini Joint Stock Company listed on the Bahrain Stock Exchange and Dubai International Financial Exchange and is one of the well-known Islamic banks.
ABG president and chief executive Adnan Ahmed Yousif said: "It is our corporate objective to be highly transparent and Shari'a compliant. We believe that getting a SQR will strengthen the bank and will make it more credible among Islamic investors and will give further assurance to our customers about our commitment to Shari'a compliance and will further assist us in meeting the highest standards in Shari'a compliance."

As part of its pioneering role in sponsoring economic and social events that highlight successful Bahraini initiatives, Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB) has recently announced its diamond sponsorship of the First Forum for Women in the media due to be held in January.
BisB acting chief executive officer Mohammed Ebrahim Mohammed said: "Bahraini women have effectively contributed to the growth and development of the media, whether as leaders or supporters.
