Dear Stan, I'D like to complain about the issue of air pollution within Seef Mall. Yes, the no smoking policy has been brought up again and again but is it working?

Sure, slightly. The thing is people still smoke within areas in which they are not allowed and it is frustrating for those who don't smoke and those abiding by the rules.

I like the poster on the doors and the stickers on the tables in Seef which state: 'WE DO NOT ALL SMOKE, BUT WE DO ALL BREATHE'.

I like them because the message is true. If a person decides to smoke and wants to endanger his/ her health then that's one thing, but he/ she should not inflict it on others. A person exposed to passive smoking can suffer headaches, nausea, coughs, dizziness, wheezing or eye irritation as well as an increased risk of lung cancer!

So, if you want to smoke, go ahead. But please do NOT do so inside the mall.

Dear Stan,

I enjoy reading each and every one of Ismaeel Na'ar's weekly articles and I would like to thank him for mentioning my name in his Youth Talk column.

I'm glad that finally people are aware of the crammed and cramped bus problems school pupils' face all over Bahrain and are now doing something about it. Thankfully, my bus-mates and I have received a new and bigger bus!

Jeanice S. Vacarizas, Sehla.

Dear Stan,

Pure disgust of how a poor innocent puppy was skinned alive

After seeing the horrific photo of the poor puppy in Gulf Weekly (6/2/08) that was stolen, then skinned alive and then thrown back into the grounds of the BSPCA, I just wanted to express my pure disgust and complete and utter shock that this barbaric behaviour happens in a modern country like Bahrain.

The person who did this heinous act is obviously deranged and has no compassion or humanity towards living creatures. I hope that when his time comes it will be as painful and as degrading as that inflicted on poor Scooby, the saying 'may you rot in hell' seems very fitting for this monster.

To the BSPCA, I praise you for all your hard work in looking after the strays of Bahrain.

To the law enforcers of Bahrain, I ask you when is there going to be something done about cruelty to animals in this country? When is Bahrain going to start arresting and charging people for inflicting pain on innocent animals? Will these crimes ever stop?

Nat Scott, by email
