A nasty case of gossip

THE_Bahraini youth have experiencd everything that world-wide technologies has to offer, from networking social websites My Space and Facebook, to the revolutionary music gadget, the iPod, and mobiles ranging from Nokia to the iPhone.

However, Bahraini teenagers, including myself, have been introduced to a local "internet person" named Gossip girl.

Gossip has always existed within the many high schools around the world. Gossip will always remain just gossip; it comes and goes with the click of the fingers.

On the other hand, gossip in Bahrain is slowly becoming as easy as the click of the mouse thanks to Gossip Girl. What she basically does is search and search for the juiciest rumours and scandals, which is normally sent to her by her friends, and she posts them on her website.

Her identity still remains a secret (which I hope doesn't stay that way for long) for fear of being made an outcast from her community.

But here is the thing: why should she be able to hide under a cloak of anonymity but spread misery and worry amongst her own peers who watch their actions constantly for fear of being Gossip Girl's next victim? Bahrain's youth community, like in all countries, will always have its share of juicy gossip and rumour mongerers whose bitter snipes spread like viruses amongst its victims who take notice of them.

However, I do find that Gossip Girl's method is becoming an annoyance to most of us.

My message to all you young readers: boycott Gossip Girl because realistically you're just wasting your time visiting her website.

To Gossip Girl: please reveal yourself to me, unlike you ... I can keep a secret and will only share your identity with GulfWeekly readers!
