THE adorable, ever-loving Betty Boots, Jimmy Shoe, Zanouba Flip Flop and Jaber Bin Jooti this week visited the GulfWeekly offices to promote the first annual Shoe Mart Walkathon charity event on March 21.

They wanted to share with readers information about their training preparation, new diet and exercise regime as well as Down Syndrome and why walking is so good for you!

1. Thanks for coming to see us.

ALL: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

2. That's a lot of energy you have!

Betty Boots: Yup! These days we never run out! With our new daily exercise and diet, we feel so fresh and GOOD - walking really is great.

Jimmy Shoe: We've been working out because we're preparing for our First Annual Shoe Mart Walkathon so we've got enough energy to raise as much money as possible for Bahrain's Down Syndrome Care Centre - as celebrities it's our duty to help.

3. Why did you choose The Down Syndrome cause?

Zanouba: The centre truly needs the community's support - we're here to help and we want you to join us!

Jaber: We're calling out to the Bahrain community to put their best foot forward and walk 5km to raise as much money as we can!

4. What's your training regime?

Betty: First of all we're cutting out sugar, fat and all junk food from our diet. We're power-walking daily and spend at least an hour at the gym twice a week.

Our new workout video is now on YouTube! Search for "Shoe Mart Walkathon Workout!" and check it out, we're style and action - hotter than Jane Fonda!

Zanouba: Never mind Jane, my inspiration is Maryam Yusuf Jamal - she's amazing!

5. Can we join the walk with you?

Jaber: People can join any of the groups that fit them. There are so many great ones to choose from: The Mother/Daughter walk, The Single's Strut, The Stiletto Sprint and The Doggie Dash. We're calling out to corporations, schools, universities, clubs and societies and families - all of you can make your own group! Join as a walker or visit the carnival afterwards.

Jim: Well, we're targeting more than a thousand walkers.

Betty: And don't forget that the minimum pledge for any walker is BD2 but we encourage everyone to spare what they can for the cause! Registration starts at 10am for kick off at 11am on Friday, March 21 - get there early guys!
