Dear Stan, A breast cancer survivor group will be held on the last Tuesday of each month at the World Beat Fitness Centre in Janibiya (Saar) from 7.30pm to 9pm.
It will be facilitated by Adrienne Buck (breast care nurse-specialising in breast cancer) and Jane Goodwin (breast cancer survivor) whose main goal is to provide resources, support and networking for women undergoing breast cancer treatments as well as those who have completed them.
Monthly sessions may include information about nutrition, diet, complimentary therapies, natural remedies, movement and meditation techniques to increase well-being and reduce stress and anxiety.
Both Adrienne and Jane hope to see the group define its own interests and goals as it develops to ensure members gain the best positive outcomes from the group.
New members are always welcome and encouraged to attend. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 29.
If you are interested in attending or as a guest speaker please contact Adrienne on 3630 6627 or email adriennebuck@msn.com or Jane on 3960 7262 or email jane@worldbeatfitness.com
Yours truly,
The breast cancer survivors group, Bahrain.
Dear Stan,
AS a member of the Rotaract Club of Manama-Salmaniya I would like to inform GulfWeekly readers of our upcoming event - one of Rotaract's best-known projects called Against the Clock (ATC).
ATC is a fun, family carnival hosted at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC)_and is jointly being organised by BIC and Rotaract Club of Manama-Salmaniya for a third consecutive year.
At the last event 32 teams from volunteering companies and educational institutes competed in a series of physical and mental games. Alongside the main games are a variety of side events and entertainment staged for visitors.
As a result of its success we were able to support a number of charitable projects with the funds raised including:
Fully-furnishing a PC lab for Al-Rashad autistic children.
Providing carpentry equipment for Dar Al-Manar for the elderly.
Furnish a clinic in Dar UCO for elderly care.
Fully paint the interior of the Dar UCO centre.
Provide Al Rahma Centre for autistic people with the following: a computer lab comprising seven computers, Xerox machine, a scanner along with a DVD player with a sound system, a car and a selection of sunshades to protect the students while working in the garden.
ATC this year will be held at the BIC on May 9.

Dear Stan,
This refers to the article 'Real friends are timeless treasures' by Marie-Clarie. (GulfWeekly, March19-25).
Real friends are priceless and can turn out to be of any gender, age, region, religion, caste or creed.
Here are a few quotations about friends. I hope your readers will enjoy them.
In prosperity our friends know us; in adversity we know our friends.
-_JOHN COLLINS.
A true friend is one who overlooks your failures and tolerates your success.
-_DOUG LARSON.
Whether a friend is a rich or poor, prosperous or a pauper, sinner or innocent, he is always helpful to us.
-_VALMIKI.
The biggest ornament of a friendship is respect and regard.
-_SISRO.
Yours sincerely,
Seturam Aspari,
