I was watching something on television last week that really opened my eyes up wide.
The programme illustrated how teenage students were failing to cope with academic pressure, and in the case of the girl featured on this particular show, the extremes some people will go to in a bid to cope.
She reacted by taking something which kids in the US mostly call "homework pills" to help ease the feelings and emotions teenagers have.
Sadly, many students forget that these sorts of pills can have serious drawbacks and side-effects that a growing body can not handle easily.
It is so true that some academic institutions stuff a lot of things on their students during the academic year - especially as we near the end of the year and all teachers are keen to make sure their students review hard for their exams and achieve the best final grades for the quarter or semester.
However, this does not mean that students should find solutions through drugs that offer an 'easy-fix' to calm us.
I would urge any students finding the pressure mounting to speak to your school's counsellors. They are great people offering expert help. No, it is not called whining, it is called reaching out for help.
Remember getting all those feelings out and in the open is sometimes the best remedy for any kind of pressure. Take it from someone who learned it first-hand that showing a strong face while having a weak heart can hurt you!
Anxiety will befriend you if you do not take it all out. Hopefully, we all will stick together till the end of the year. Remember guys, the end is near. There is not much left and let us take it easy ... but hopefully, not too easy!
