Bahrain music fans will have a chance to vote for their favourite local act in the 'Race Your Voice' challenge to find an official theme song for this year's Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.

Listeners to Radio Bahrain will be able to hear all the entries submitted in what has been an overwhelming response to this inaugural competition, with voting running until tomorrow. Readers can also visit the Race Your Voice page on BahrainTalent.com.

The challenge is the brainchild of track owners Bahrain International Circuit, talent group BahrainTalent.com and newly-launched music download service Urfilez.com.

The Bahrain GP has long been the leading sporting event in the Gulf and officials behind the challenge wanted to make its appeal even wider, by allowing some of the kingdom's brightest new acts to showcase their talent on a global stage.

Rising to the challenge, a diverse range of artists have submitted tracks on the website. The winner will not only record their track with a professional production team, in a state-of-the-art studio provided by Urfilez, but Radio Bahrain will be promoting the chosen F1 theme song on their prime time shows during the run up to the race. To top off the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, the winners will find themselves stealing the spotlight as they get to perform their winning song live on stage amidst thousands of fans on race weekend.

Looking forward to the voting, Martin Whitaker, chief executive officer of BIC, said: "Race Your Voice F1 Challenge will give local talent the opportunity to show off their skills as well as get everyone on the island involved in the biggest event of the year by voting for the song they feel most reflects their experience of the Grand Prix."

Shaun Edwardes, COO of UrFilez added: "UrFilez is all about finding and developing local talent - and we're delighted with the level and the quality of entrants we've heard. This is a wonderful way of bringing some original new voices to a wider audience - and you couldn't ask for a bigger stage than the Grand Prix."
