A leading Bahraini jewellery store believes natural Bahraini pearls are the best way to a women's heart and are a gem of an idea for those wanting to show true romance this Valentine's Day.

Al Sarraj Jewellers has launched a special promotional event with Lab Certified Pearl Necklaces to prove the quality and authenticity of the prize pieces.

Boasting fine traditional craftsmanship, Al Sarraj in Manama will be offering customers an attractive range of jewellery including ear rings, pendants, rings, necklaces, diamonds, precious and semi-precious stones, pearls and bracelets.

A spokesman said: "Natural pearls are most valuable as they are the rarest and are produced in lesser quantities. Throughout history pearls have represented wealth, health and happiness ... they are a symbol of togetherness.

"Our collections are classic with contemporary timeless designs that carefully combine tradition, elegance and imagination."

Bahrain was once known as the Island of Pearls with a pearling history dating back more than 5,000 years. During the peak of the industry, at the beginning of the 19th century, around 30,000 Bahrainis were involved in finding the precious gems.

The industry died shortly after the discovery of oil and the arrival of more uniformed cultured pearls which to this day are prohibited in the kingdom. Pearl merchandisers are not allowed to buy or sell them.

The kingdom's Pearl Roundabout is a symbol of times gone by but not forgotten.

The call for natural pearls continues and to meet the demand Al Sarraj Jewellers' stores have produced a set of promotional pearl necklaces priced at BD150 (see image 11), BD350 (see image 22), BD500 (see image 33) and BD900 (see image 44).

The Al Sarraj Group was established in Bahrain in 1982 and is well respected as dealers of certified diamonds, gems, natural Bahraini pearls and fine jewellery. Its parent company, Light House Gems, was founded in Malaysia in 1951.

The jeweller was one of the pioneers in dealing with loose diamonds, as well as precious and semi-precious stones. Its services also include made-to-order jewellery in which customers can choose from 18 carat white or yellow gold, 21-22 carat yellow gold as well as platinum and silver.
