The Batelco Melodic Meet will be held on September 24 at the Indian School grounds in Isa Town. Organised by the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation (BDSF) in association with the Kerala Arts and Cultural Association (KACA), the event will feature performances by vocalists Mohammad Aslam, Faride and Sindhu Menon, mimicry specialists Baiju Jose and Babu Jose and film star Monica from India. The Mad Science Ramadan Camp will run from August 8 to September 2, Sundays to Thursdays, 10am to 1pm. For children aged six and above, here is the chance to get involved in four fabulous weeks of interactive Mad Science experiments with a different theme each week. Held at Studio Ceramics on Budaiya Highway at their party room each day includes a new Mad Science topic presented with fun, interactive experiments and a Mad Science educational science take-home. Art Select in collaboration with the Courtyard Bahrain is organising an art event at Al Ghazal Ballroom, at the Ritz Carlton Bahrain Hotel and Spa, under the title 'prayer, peace and pictures'. Giving both masters and young contemporary artists a common platform has become Art Select's forte and this exhibition has been designed to engage the viewer with its sense of unity and peace and where each work has been chosen with great care. As the event is taking place during the holy month of Ramadan, a percentage of the art sales will support institutions in need, with the money this year going to Alia Centre for Autism. The Centrepoint Desert Symphony will take place on the first day of Eid in September at the Indian School grounds, Isa Town. The fundraiser will feature a headline performance by Sri Lankan choreographer Chandana Wickramasinghe's Sri Lankan Dancers Guild, as well as award winning Indian pop music diva Usha Uthup, Tamil play-back singer Mano, vocalist Anwar Sadath and finalists from the Asianet reality show Idea Star Singer Hisham Abdulwahab and Lekshmi Jayan. Bahrain City Centre (BCC) is hosting its first charity promotion this year as well as an Islamic exhibition. Charity collection boxes will be available in the mall for customers to donate goods throughout Ramadan. In return for their generosity, customers will be rewarded with offers and discounts from BCC retailers.
The exhibition will be located in front of Saks Fifth Avenue on the ground level. Shoppers can visit the exhibition anytime during mall trading hours.
Among other activities are complimentary henna applications for ladies visiting the mall in the evenings as well as an opportunity to see the country's popular bird, the falcon.
