Bahraini Mohammed Al Noaimi opened his account in the first DHL Order or Merit competition of 2013 when he secured top spot with a two under par 70 at the Royal Golf Club.
Al Noaimi beat fellow Bahrainis Hamad Mubarak and Mohamed Al Sayed who finished second and third respectively with 73 and 74 in the men’s gross division.
In the men’s nett division, Radford Cox captured first place with a 2 under nett 70, narrowly beating David Rimmer on count back. Ahmed Sultan was just one shot off the pace, taking third place with a nett score of 71.
The ladies gross division was less closely contested with youngster Deanna Ngo continuing her impressive run of form to win with a gross score of 92. Lady captain Hanne Hansen was runner up with 94 while former lady captain Debbie Lane finished third on 100.
Hilde Kwik won the ladies nett division with a nett score of 72. Lady vice captain Dena Wales took second place with nett 81 while Valerie Lim’s nett 85 was enough to secure third place.
“I was surprised that the scoring was so high this weekend,” said John Wilson, the Royal Golf Club’s Golf sales & events manager. “The conditions were perfect and there were some accessible pins out there. DHL have taken over the sponsorship of the Club’s Order of Merit & Club Championship Series for 2013 and we look forward to working with them on this very popular series.”
