OUR Visions exhibition, held at the Art Centre under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, has come to a conclusion and it was a huge success.
The American Women’s Association’s (AWA) 5th annual Fine Art & Photography Show, opened by US Ambassador to Bahrain Thomas Krajeski, showcased a wide variety of styles, subjects and approaches, from realism to pure abstract, by 22 artists, all AWA members. Irina Averinos, chairperson of the event, proudly announced that more than BD2,000 was raised and this will go the a list of charities that AWA is supporting.

IT was a groundbreaking couple of weeks at the British School of Bahrain (BSB) with the opening of the inaugural Bahrain Juniors’ Art Exhibition. The exhibition was an opportunity to promote a professional platform for art educators on the island and raise the profile of the Arts in the community.
This celebration of creativity from nine schools is very timely. We are living and learning in a time when the Arts are truly taking the driving seat both in the educational and corporate world.
I commend Clare Dixon-Clarke, our KS2 Head of Art, for having the vision to unite art teachers to move forward in a spirit of collaboration and Tess Ashmole and Estelle Wardle for turning the vision into a reality.
The exhibition celebrated the art of seven-11-year-olds, the talented musicians of the BSB Academy and each attendee had the chance to make their own mark in the
interactive art workshop.
I would like to thank our artist-in-residence, Arthur Dsouza, for giving of his time, energy and enthusiasm so willingly over the past few months and presiding over the opening of the exhibition.
Lisa Atkins, Head of Infants, BSB.
