THE Editor’s wife Kathryn decided to take her elderly father, Brian, and his brother, David, on a tour of Bahrain’s tourism hotspots during their visit to the kingdom from England.
She almost made it to the Tree of Life until her car got stuck in the sand. Not sure how to use the Jeep’s four-wheel drive she fagged down a passing JCB digger. Its driver kindly came to the rescue and pulled the vehicle free.
“How lucky to fnd a JCB in the middle of the desert,” she exclaimed. Very lucky indeed, fortunately the driver and his crew were making the foundations for a tourist centre close to the famous tree.
Perhaps they had better put some ‘DANGER! SAND!’ roads signs up too to make visitors aware they are driving in the desert. It can get sticky, similar to Kathryn’s attempts at making desserts, according to the Ed.
