Saraya Restaurant at Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa is once again raising the bar of cultural and gastronomic experiences by treating guests to the rich and diversified Indian Food Festival until Friday, writes Charlie Holding.
The Ambassador of India to Bahrain, Mohan Kumar, officially launched the festival over the weekend at a private ceremony for invited guests. The event included entertainment from Indian dancers and a range of traditional welcomes.
Sofitel Bahrain has flown in Indian chefs from its sister hotel, Sofitel Mumbai, to man the culinary stations and ensure the most diverse and authentic tastes possible.
The hotel is offering Lucknowi and Awadi cuisine comprised of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes from a buffet prepared by Chef Bhajohari Mahto.
Chef Bhajohari, 39, from Jharkhand, is keen for people to visit the festival and explore how Indian cuisine is as varied as the different states it comes from.
“I’m here to promote all Indian food, from the North to the South and everything in between.
“North Indian cuisine is my speciality, it’s rich, creamy and not as spicy as South Indian food, but both have their merits and there’s a mixture of everything here at the Sofitel Bahrain, just like the Sofitel in Mumbai.
“I like to fuse the flavours and even try to incorporate a bit of continental style in to my dishes to make sure that your taste buds come alive.”
The buffet is priced at BD18 per person inclusive of taxes and soft drinks and BD22/nett inclusive of selected beverages.
