Woman claims men’s night out

THE inaugural title of the Boggi Milano Men’s Night Out PowerPlay event was narrowly clinched by … a woman.

Held at the Royal Golf Club, Lady Vice Captain Dena Wales scored an impressive 23 points on the club’s par 3 Wee Monty course and Graeme Newport finished runner-up with 22 points.

An interesting format that takes place throughout the holy month, the PowerPlay event consists of two flags per green with one white flag considered the easier option and the black flag the tougher one. With this, players stand the chance to gain double stableford points for nett birdies or better. At least three black flags must be played for during the 9-hole round.

John Wilson, the club’s golf sales & events manager, said: “This is the first golf event at the Royal Golf Club that has been sponsored by Boggi Milano and it was brilliant. All the competitors thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we look forward to the next four events in the series.”
