The story is about a young girl who seeks escape from a life that features a cruel stepfather and a mother whose difficult pregnancy is killing her into an eerie but captivating fantasy world. The film won numerous film awards, including 3 Academy Awards and 3 BAFTA Awards. It was also nominated for a number of other awards.
