Wet nosed and tail wagging, Bahrain Customs Directorate’s newest recruit is deliriously happy.
Frankie, a four-year-old Springer Spaniel, has just discovered a 100-gramme stick of plastic explosive PE4, which, placed strategically could blow a 10-tonne lorry to smithereens.
Concealed during a training exercise, it took just 60 seconds for Frankie to find.
Last week, Frankie and 11 other crime-busting canines started to patrol the King Fahd Causeway which joins Bahrain to Saudi Arabia.
They are part of tough new security measures taken to stem the tide of prohibited goods entering Bahrain.
