The Bahrain International Circuit was host to over 2,500 spectators at the weekend that flocked to the venue for the speed and drama of drag racing and autocross.

Bahraini ace Ibraheem Busmait put on a nail-biting performance giving the crowd plenty of entertainment alongside the kingdom’s other favourite driver Hasan Saddadi.

BIC also attracts drivers and racers from all over the region to this event and again its pulling power was proved with the appearance of a guest team from Saudi Arabia.

A highlight of the event was the attendance of Shaikh Salman bin Rashid Al Khalifa who returned to home soil after his British Formula 3 season and gave the spectators a true racing drivers show, he explained: “It is fantastic to be back at the Bahrain International Circuit, naturally I always enjoy racing here and the crowds this weekend were fantastic – the love of the sport is clearly still strong!”

The weekend also saw the newly-appointed COO of the circuit Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa in attendance.

He said: “Having these weekends at the BIC is very important for Bahrain’s motorsport fans and drivers. It is always positive to see the vibrant atmosphere which demonstrates people’s passion for motorsport in this region which I hope continues to increase.”

The next race date for the diary is tomorrow at the circuit.
