Too Hot To Trot

THE Dilmun Stables hosted an Open Show Jumping Event last Friday sponsored by Pan Gulf Holdings, who donated prize money as well as fabulous trophies. 

The event attracted more than 60 entries and started off with a Clear Round Class of uprights and cross poles.

Competitors gaining clear rounds were rewarded with medals to mark their achievements. Hussain Dadulla and his brother Mustafa kept it in the family, as did both Sasha and his mum Julia DeSouza, while it was a fabulous afternoon for Freya Nicklin astride the new family horse Hero. Stable manager Lisa Powick performed possibly her penultimate performance on Tayar, as she will be leaving Bahrain this summer.

The second class was an accumulator with fences at 80/90cm and the Joker stood at 100cm. This was a hugely popular class, however, it was veteran Sami Ghazwan who stole the show astride the fabulous Raheeb claiming the first of his day’s victories. 
A very close runner-up was Yahyah Ahmed riding I Trust You, and in third place was Ibrahim Nader on TK. Also in the placings was Jerri Taylor riding Airforce One - another double success.

The evening concluded with another Accumulator class with fences measuring an imposing 100/110cm and the Joker now stood at 120cm.

This final class was no less popular. It was once again Ghazwan who clinched his second win of the day with the very talented Raheeb. Basel Al Dossari riding Laretto claimed second spot with Taylor on Airforce One in third position. Al Dossari actually beat himself in this class as he also claimed 4th place on Cortez!

This proved to be a fantastic event, enjoyed by participants and spectators alike. The Dilmun Stables will host its final event of the season on June 12 with a dressage show.
