AN array of bright colours, slinky designs and edgy trends dazzled on the catwalk proving that Villa Moda's autumn and winter 2009 collection will certainly turn heads.
The red carpet affair, billed as 'the most high-profile event of the season', was staged at the Villa Moda boutique in Manama's Moda Mall.
While some of the crme de la crme of the region took to their seats in preparation for the dramatic show, others made their way to the VIP room where they were greeted by cocktails and canapŽs. Beautiful femmes took photos with the stylish crowd as a model majestically swayed back and forth from a ceiling swing.
The show took off without a hitch, displaying the hottest looks from leading brands with the theme of the 'AW 09' campaign entitled 'The Ultimate Therapy', obviously just what the fashion doctor ordered.
Guests were given a 'look book' in the form of a prescription pad which had pictures of all the styles that were being shown during the event. The brands included were Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta, Valentino, Marni, D&G, Lanvin, Dries Van Noten, Nina Ricci, Nicholas Kirkwood, Manolo Blahnik alongside and many more.
The paparazzis camera flashes added to the ambience of the night, making every attendee feel like they were at a happening event - it's as though Villa Moda took a page out of New York Fashion Week and brought it to life on this little island.
The idea behind the 'therapy' theme, according to the show organisers, was 'that when you shop at Villa Moda, you can forget all your problems as you are carried away in a world of elegance, beauty and trend'.
The collection was made up of fashionable attire and accessories for ladies and gents. Ammar Ali, 30, an art gallery owner and designer, from Adliya, said: "For my first fashion show, I thought the collection was great and colourful. The collection made me feel like it was about time I changed my style. It was exotic and nice to see such an event in Bahrain."
Fashionista Andreea Vacile, 27, a flight attendant, from Adliya, said: "The show was provocative, exciting and definitely something new for Bahrain. I think the kingdom really needs some fashion and colour to contrast with the desert. The collection was extravagant and I would consider making a purchase as a result of the show."
