Batelco has announced that its telex service, which has been in operation for more than 30 years, will be phased out by the end of the year.

In spite of a number of challenges, Batelco has continued to offer the service to fulfil its customers' needs.

"We have explored many options including purchasing a new system to provide the service. Unfortunately, the cost of a new system and diminishing customers who still use the service, has made this option unviable," said Batelco Group general manager media and government relations Ahmed Al Janahi.
