THE Bahrain Rugby Club will play host this weekend to the 20th anniversary of the Middle East Gaelic Games. Introduced to the region by Bahrain, the Games has gone from strength to strength.

More than 40 teams are expected to visit from around the Gulf endorsing its ever-increasing popularity.

The Arabian Celts Gaelic Athletic Association was founded in 2008 as a merger between Bahrain Irish and the Naomh Abdullah Dhahran from Saudi Arabia and will be one of the teams to watch having won the All Asian title in 2009.

Competition will be intense as there are an increasing number of former Irish professionals moving to the region.

Bahrain will also witness the reintroduction of hurling in what promises to be an action-packed weekend.

Play on the field will start at 9am.
