THE Arsenal ladies took a step closer to securing the GulfWeekly-sponsored Bahrain Ladies Premiership League title this week Ö but, which team it will be remains to be seen!
Either of the Arsenal teams can now lift the trophy, but Venus and Joga Bonito can still bag the runners-up slot.

With two games remaining, the Yellows are in the best shape to clinch the title after beating their Red club-mates 5-4 in a reverse of the score-line earlier in the season when the Reds triumphed 2-1. Goals from Deena Rahman (2), Catherine Martin, Sam Turner (2) with replies from Rama Salem, Reema Alqassab (2) and Lamees Saqqa (Pen) secured the vital three points.

Eastern Flames notched their second win, 2-1 against the champions from the last two seasons St Christopher’s Seniors.

A depleted Joga Bonito put up a spirited fight against Venus, but a very early goal from Tala Bashmi and three more from Tala, Fatma Mahmood and Anastasia Salinas without reply from the Joga girls saw a comfortable 4-0 win.

Week 9 sees the Yellows chasing the one win that they need when they come up against the Flames; the Reds hoping that their colleagues slip up so they can stay in the title race when they play Joga. Venus, who can also still finish second, are up against St Chris.

The league will conclude on Monday. A cup competition will follow and the trophy and medal presentations will be staged on December 10.
