Shakhoora Riding Centre held an Open Show Jumping event on Friday and the opening class was the start of a triple victory for visiting British riding instructor Karen Whiston.
A British Horse Society (BHSI) instructor and accomplished 3-day eventer, Whiston has been in Bahrain over the past week conducting clinics and lessons in all disciplines at Twin Palms Riding Centre.
To showcase her skills Karen took Osina round the course in an unbeatable time of 46.89 seconds in the speed class open to both juniors and adults with fences 60/70cm high.
Taking runner-up position in this first class for the adults was Fahad Ahmed astride his lovely horse Wagbah.
Taking the trophy home for the juniors was Megan Doherty, who steered Morano into first place.
The next class was mixed for juniors and adults and the fences raised up to 70/80cm.
This was a take-your-own-line challenge in which entrants jumped their own course. This was also a timed class and provided the second win of the day for Whiston and Osina, and she was followed in second place by Aimee Keen, astride Rio.
The final class of the morning was an accumulator with fences at 100cm and a joker at 110cm. Whiston and her horse once again showed their expertise with a hat-trick of victories. The runner-up in this class was Ahmed Al Alawi with the talented Tyson 2.
All entrants were entered into a draw with the prize of a new saddle donated by British Petrolink. It was won by Abdul Saeed.
The day was thoroughly enjoyed by competitors and spectators alike and sponsors of the event were Blue Dawn, Things to Do, CHAOSS and Sarens Nass. Refreshments were provided by Burgerland.
