GOALS were aplenty in the Gulf Weekly/ Citroen-sponsored Bahrain Ladies Football League this week with the Arsenal U21s hitting three against tough-tackling Joga TFA and the Arsenal Ladies smashing seven past Seef Dental.
The Arsenal Ladies versus Seef Dental game was much closer than the score-line would suggest, with the difference being that the Arsenal girls were clinical in front of goal, converting virtually every chance that came their way.
Katie Eames took four, Wed Al Jowder hit a brace and a Nada Al Sharif strike ensured that the Ladies got back to winning ways after their unbeaten run came to an end last week.
The Joga versus Arsenal U21 game was a thrilling affair with both the teams playing good passing and moving football. The 21s scored an early goal when Phoebe License ran on to a superb Eleni Tsappis through ball and smashed home.
A period of sustained pressure from Joga followed and although the team had several chances they were thwarted by a combination of excellent defending and goalkeeping displays, particularly by Lauren Moir and Aya Hatoum. An opportunist second strike by Teddy Walton who punished a poor back pass and a third by Naomi Atkinson sealed the points for theU21s to keep themselves ahead of Joga in the table.
This week sees top-of-the-table Venus take on Joga, the U21s take on the Ladies in an all-Arsenal clash; and the Gunners play Seef Dental.
