BIKERS are being urged to join us with their families for three days of fun in Bahrain! We would like your readers to register to attend ... we are waiting for you!

Star Event Management, part of Al Sharfa Holdings, is also inviting companies to jump on board the saddle and become a sponsor for our annual 6th Bahrain Bike Week 2015.
I know there are many corporations with a mission and desire to give back to the community and we would greatly appreciate the support.

With the growing popularity of motor biking in the region, and the increasing number of bikers, we can see that there is a huge demand for such activities.

Bahrain Bike Week brings people from all over the region to be part of three days of celebration of bike enthusiasts of all kinds of machines, ranging from cruisers to sports bikes.

The support of business has helped us in the past to host more than 1,200 bikers from all over the GCC. This year’s event will be attended by different bike groups, clubs, organisations and individuals from the kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

More than 400 spectators were in attendance last year, donations were given to charitable organisations, and a parade staged for the love of Bahrain, an event covered by the local media. We are anxiously looking forward to even greater success at this year’s event, which will be held from December 24-26, simultaneously with Bahrain’s National Day celebrations.

Please contact me for more information on this exciting event and the available sponsorship packages by emailing rada@alsharfaholdings.com

I was heartened to find out that my daughter helped fill boxes full of goodies this week for children living in refugee camps.

She’s a member of the St Chris Kindness Club and told me that she had written a note in the parcel with the message that the gift was a token of ‘love’ and she hopes that someone will be able to read it to the child in case the recipient cannot understand English.

I think the heart and smiley face she drew on the note will send a message that words alone cannot convey. Hopefully the child will enjoy a game of marbles and draw her own pictures with the pencils donated. They are children, and children need to play no matter what circumstances they find themselves in.

It’s a horrific thought that thousands of Syrian children will be sleeping under canvas, scared and worried about what is going to happen, as we prepare to pack up our bags with summer outfits for our vacation back home in Europe.

One of our school mums is Syrian and I know she despairs over the suffering her people are enduring … ‘there but for the grace of God, go I’, comes to mind.

I can’t help but think about the parents with just the clothes they have on their backs struggling to manage and I’ll be taking a pile of clothing to the Bahrain Rugby Football Club tonight hoping my small offering to the campaign will help.

Well done GulfWeekly and DHL Express. I hope your Ramadan Appeal 2015 is successful.

A mother,
Saar.
